NZ
Travel tragic with 40 circumnavigations of planet earth visiting over 100 countries across each continent. Started out as a wide eyed teen sailing first aboard passenger ships then flying interspersed with a few transcontinental driving stints to finally reach the ultimate traditional form of travel - sailing. Humbled and privileged to most recently sail around the world by wind powered yacht entering countries through the back door at frumpy ports rather than the sterile air-ports !

Tasman Triangle

Multiple crossings of the tempestuous waters of the Tasman Sea aboard carbon fibre Davidson 40 one tonner "Holidaymakers" aka 'Once A Jolly Swagman' participating in the inaugural Tasman Triangle Yacht Race during the summer of 1994/95 between Wellington Sydney Hobart and return to Wellington for the (12) NZ yachts and return to Sydney for the (9) Aussie yachts that joined the race in Sydney. The highlight of the overall event included racing in the 50th Sydney Hobart Yacht race with a record 371 yachts on multiple start lines in Sydney Harbour of which 309 reached the finish line on Hobarts Derwent River. This ball busting 7000km bluewater race has sadly not been repeated since. (Route Map shows post purchase positioning passage from Williamstown Vic to Wellington NZ)
